Alex Bowman suffers fractured vertebra in NASCAR crash

NASCAR Cup Series driver Alex Bowman has unfortunately suffered a fractured vertebra in a terrifying car accident at a sprint car race this past week. TMZ reported that Bowman’s injury may cause him to miss up to one month of racing. The accident occurred during a practice session at the Lincoln Speedway in Illinois on Thursday night.

According to TMZ, Bowman was attempting to pass another car on the racetrack when the two vehicles made contact, sending Bowman’s car spinning out of control and eventually crashing hard into the barrier wall. The impact of the crash resulted in Bowman suffering a fracture in one of his vertebrae.

The driver was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he underwent further evaluation and treatment for his injury. While Bowman’s long-term prognosis is not yet clear, TMZ reports that he could be out of racing for up to one month while he recovers from the fracture.

This is undoubtedly a major setback for Bowman, who has been a rising star in the NASCAR Cup Series in recent years. The 28-year-old driver has competed in over 200 Cup Series races since his debut in 2014, and has notched three wins and 25 top-ten finishes over that time.

It remains to be seen how Bowman’s injury will impact his racing career moving forward. However, fans of the driver and the sport as a whole will surely be keeping a close eye on his recovery and hoping for a swift return to the racetrack.
