In his interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sheeran revealed that the diagnosis was like a gut punch. “I think that’s the one time I actually felt like I was “drowning,” he said. “It’s a real shock to the system, and it makes you question everything.” Sheeran also admitted that he turned to alcohol to cope, but quickly realized that wasn’t the answer.

The couple had to quickly adjust to Seaborn’s chemotherapy treatments, which were grueling. Seaborn’s cancer is now in remission, and Sheeran says the experience caused him to reassess his priorities. “It made me realize that, at the end of the day, it’s just about being happy,” he said. “If I’m happy, that’s all that matters.”
