Megyn Kelly Slams Chrissy Teigen
At the 2023 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Chrissy Teigen made quite the entrance in a stunning gown. However, it was the way she had her dress held that got people talking.
As Teigen and her husband, John Legend, arrived at the event, they were accompanied by three people who were holding her dress. When Megyn Kelly saw photos of this, she took to social media to criticize Teigen for seemingly having “serfs” hold her dress.
Teigen fired back at Kelly, pointing out that the “minions” holding her dress were actually her close friends who were more than happy to help her with her gown. She also noted that, had she been a man, no one would have batted an eye at her having assistance with his tie or tuxedo.
The debate between Kelly and Teigen sparked a larger conversation about the expectations placed on women at formal events. While some criticized Teigen for her “entitled” behavior, many came to her defense and pointed out that there was nothing wrong with having help with her dress.
While the dress debacle at the 2023 White House Correspondents’ Dinner may have seemed trivial at first glance, it highlighted the larger issue of the gendered expectations placed on women at formal events. Whether or not Teigen was wrong to have assistance with her dress, the fact remains that women are often expected to look flawless and effortless at all times, and it’s time to change that narrative.
