The ‘Wicked’ Movie Casts Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible
The Long-Awaited ‘Wicked’ Movie
Fans of the hit Broadway musical ‘Wicked’ have been eagerly awaiting the movie adaptation for years. Finally, it seems that the project is well underway, with filming already in progress. While we may still have to wait a bit longer before we can see the final product, recent glimpses of the set and cast have given us a small taste of what’s to come.
A Look at Madame Morrible, Played by Michelle Yeoh
One of the most eagerly anticipated roles in the ‘Wicked’ movie is that of Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Shiz University who plays a pivotal role in the story. The role has been given to none other than Michelle Yeoh, an internationally renowned actress known for her roles in everything from James Bond movies to ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’.
Recently, photos from the set have been leaked, giving us our first look at Yeoh in full costume as Madame Morrible. In the pictures, Yeoh can be seen wearing a striking red dress with a high collar and a matching hat adorned with a feather. Her hair is styled in a regal updo, and she wears minimal makeup save for bold red lipstick. The costume perfectly captures the character’s sense of power and authority, and Yeoh looks every bit the part.
Other Cast Members to Look Forward To
Of course, Yeoh isn’t the only big name attached to the ‘Wicked’ movie. Cynthia Erivo, known for her Tony-winning performance in ‘The Color Purple’, will be playing the role of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. Meanwhile, pop star Ariana Grande will be taking on the role of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The cast also includes Tony winner Idina Menzel in a yet-to-be-revealed role, and rising star Jo Ellen Pellman as Nessarose, Elphaba’s wheelchair-bound sister.
With such an impressive and talented ensemble, it’s clear that the ‘Wicked’ movie is going to be something special. While we still have a bit of a wait ahead of us, the first glimpses we’ve gotten of the cast and costumes have only increased fans’ excitement and anticipation. We can’t wait to see more!
