Twitter Has Reinstated The Accounts Of Journalists Who Were Suspended For Reporting On @ElonJet
After a brief Twitter suspension of several journalists who had reportedly reported on the Twitter account @ElonJet, Twitter has reinstated the suspended accounts. This Twitter account is believed to belong to Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.
According to reports, several high-profile journalists were suspended from Twitter on Thursday evening, but were reinstated early on Saturday morning after Elon Musk conducted a Twitter poll asking his followers if he should reinstate the accounts. A total of 58.1% of the more than 3,700 respondents voted “yes” in the poll.
While Twitter has declined to comment on the suspensions, some news outlets have reported that the suspended accounts may have been blocked due to a violation of Twitter’s rules around sharing private information.
Many on social media have lauded Elon Musk’s decision to reinstate the journalists’ accounts, citing the importance of free speech and the role of the media in holding powerful figures like Musk accountable. Some, however, have criticized Musk for what they see as an attempt to control the narrative around his personal life and conduct.
It is worth noting that the relationship between Musk and the media has been somewhat contentious in the past. The entrepreneur has been known to use Twitter to bypass traditional PR channels and communicate directly with his followers, a move that some journalists have criticized as being potentially dangerous or misleading.
